Installation of 4.5MW Wind Turbine Components in High-Wind Conditions
Project Overview: Assembly of a new wind farm cluster in Northern Europe. The task involved lifting nacelles and blades at hub heights exceeding 120 meters.
The Challenge:
The project site was located on soft coastal soil with frequent wind gusts. Precision was required to align the nacelle bolts with a tolerance of less than 2mm.
Engineering Solution:
- Equipment: Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane for the main lifts and an LTM 1100-4.2 for tailing the blades.
- Strategy: Utilization of specialized wind speed monitoring sensors integrated with the crane’s LICCON system to identify safe lifting windows.
Technical Specs:
- Max Lift Weight: 95 tons (Nacelle).
- Hub Height: 125 meters.
- Ground Prep: 200 $m^2$ of heavy-duty steel mats to ensure a stable footprint for the LG 1750.
